Have your say on local outpatient services

18 November 2022

If you have had an appointment in a hospital or clinic in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin but not needed to stay overnight, also known as an outpatient appointment, the NHS wants to hear from you.

NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin is asking people to share their experiences and views of outpatient care to help make improvements to local services.

Andrew Elves, Clinical Lead for the Outpatients Transformation Programme, said: “Covid-19 had a significant impact on services which has led to longer waits for many patients, and a rapidly increasing waiting list, particularly for people waiting for outpatient appointments.

“With people also living longer, which is to be celebrated, we are seeing the need for these services continuing to increase.

“We are looking at how we can tackle this growing challenge by making changes to our outpatient services to provide care in new ways, reduce the need for unnecessary trips to hospital, and free up our doctors’ and nurses’ time to help more patients.

“To do this right, we need to involve and listen to our residents and people who have used our services.”

All the feedback received will be used to help design future services. The survey will close on Sunday 18th December.
