The Orange Button Community Scheme helps people feel more confident to talk about suicide, know how to listen without judgement, and understand where to signpost for support. It is a free, short community awareness training programme supporting suicide prevention across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
To help maximise awareness, training uptake and community conversations around suicide prevention, we are asking all partners and stakeholders to actively promote The Orange Button Community Scheme across your networks.
About this toolkit
We have produced an Orange Button Community Scheme Communications Toolkit to support partners to promote the scheme consistently and confidently.
The toolkit includes:

- Social media assets
- Suggested social media copy:
- Posters
- Digital screen artwork
- Newsletter copy
- Website copy
All materials are designed to:
- Encourage people to take part in the Orange Button training
- Reduce stigma around talking about suicide
- Promote supportive, safe community conversations
- Signpost people to further help where needed
How you can help
Please support the Orange Button Community Scheme by promoting it through all appropriate public‑facing channels, including:
- Community noticeboards, waiting rooms and reception areas
- Websites and intranets
- Newsletters and bulletins
- Social media channels
- Digital screens and public information points
Where appropriate, please also:
- Share the toolkit with colleagues, partner organisations and community groups
- Encourage staff and volunteers to complete the Orange Button training
- Use Orange Button messaging during Mental Health/Suicide Awareness Weeks and any other relevant campaigns
