Lucy Merricks, Digital Lead Processing Team for the Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) team, has been awarded the first Star of the Month for NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin (NHS STW).

Lucy was nominated by her colleague, Molly Hill, who wanted Lucy to be recognised for her brilliant work ethic and contribution to the service.,  Molly said: “She is such an asset to the team.

“She is always approachable and has a genuine care for staff welfare, she is someone you can always go to in confidence and who will put a smile on the teams’ face. Every office needs a Lucy!”

The Star of the Month Award was originally launched for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) staff. On 1 July 2022 the CCG was replaced by NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and it was decided the Star of the Month award could continue.

The award recognises the commitment and dedication of staff members who go above and beyond what is expected of them to make a difference to patients, the public and/or colleagues.

The award was presented by Simon Whitehouse, in the NHS STW Welcome briefing for staff. He said: “It’s really impressive to hear all about the work Lucy does and her attitudes that makes her a great colleague. I think it’s important that I say thank you and well done, and how amazing it is to have colleagues writing such nice comments about her.”

Lucy said: “I would just like to say thank you to anyone who nominated me for Star of the Month. It is such a lovely surprise, and I am honoured that people have taken the time to write such thoughtful things about me.

“I have worked at POD for over four years now, and I truly to do love the work that we do. I just want to take the time to say that every single member of the POD Team deserves this award.

“During the pandemic we have worked tirelessly to ensure that we are able to continue to help the patients that need us. I am so fortunate to work with a group of people who are always so supportive of each other and keep each other going.”
