Help Us Help you make the right choice
Knowing what health services are available and what they can offer will help everyone get the care they need.
Your pharmacist can do so much more than complete your prescription. They can give you expert clinical advice for minor health concerns and help with many common illnesses like sore throats, coughs, colds, tummy troubles and aches and pains. And the best part is you don’t need to make an appointment.
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day and can provide help and support online or over the phone, including connecting callers to pharmacists and out of hours GPs, as well as helping those in need get to the most appropriate service if they do need to see someone face to face.
For injuries or illnesses that are urgent but not life threatening you can use an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) or Minor Injuries Unit (MIU). It is best to try NHS 111 first to be directed to the most appropriate service, including booking at arrival time for some services. Read information on all the MIUs and UTCs in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin including their opening times. The NHS website provides an overview of the conditions these services can treat.
Our latest blog from NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Chief Nursing Officer, Alison Bussey, provides advice and information about how to get the right care during the winter months.
