When to use NHS 111
Call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk:

- You have a medical problem that isn’t life-threatening but you’re not sure what to do
- You need urgent medical advice or help
- You think you may require an emergency face-to-face appointment with a healthcare professional
- You need help getting a repeat prescription or an emergency supply of prescribed medicine
- You require urgent dental support
- You need urgent mental health assistance
- You need advice on where to go for treatment or support
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What NHS 11 can do
NHS 111 can:
- Assess your symptoms and provide advice on what to do next
- Tell you where to get help if you're unsure what to do
- Arrange for you to speak to an appropriate healthcare professional
- Organise face-to-face appointments where necessary
- Provide general health information and advice
- Help you access repeat prescriptions or emergency medication supplies
- Send an ambulance if they think you need one

People of all ages, including children and young people, can call for themselves or someone they are concerned about.
When you call, you'll speak to a trained mental health professional who will:
- Listen to your concerns
- Assess your needs
- Offer advice and support over the phone
- Put you in contact with local crisis services
- Organise face-to-face community support where appropriate
- Help you access alternative services such as crisis cafés or safe havens
