Mental Health Inpatient Quality Transformation Programme
Health and care partners, including NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, local councils, and the voluntary and community sector, are working together to deliver the new Transforming adult mental health inpatient services strategy for 2024-27.
The Inpatient Quality Transformation Programme (IPQT) is a national initiative aimed at improving the quality and safety of care in mental health, learning disability, and autism services. By partnering with patients, families, clinicians, systems, providers, and other stakeholders, the programme builds on existing good practices to enhance care.
The strategy aims to improve access to effective care and ensure positive outcomes for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, by:
- Providing earlier support and intervention
- Improving the quality of inpatient care when it is needed
- Ensuring care is safe and effective
- Keeping residents care close to home as possible and connected to support
- Reducing avoidable hospital admissions
