NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin launches Clinical Strategy and invites residents to share their views

27 January 2026

NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin has published its refreshed Clinical Strategy and is calling on residents across the county to share their views on the future of local health and care services.

The strategy sets out how the local NHS plans to respond to some of the biggest challenges facing the area, including a large rural geography, an ageing population, rising demand for services and ongoing health inequalities between communities.

Focusing on prevention, stronger community-based support through neighbourhoods, tackling inequalities and making better use of digital tools, the strategy is structured around five life stages: Start Well, Grow Well, Live Well, Age Well and End Well.

The approach aligns with national priorities in the Government’s 10 Year Plan for the NHS in England and emphasises clinical leadership, effective use of data and evidence, and collaboration across health, care and community services.

Dr Lorna Clarson, Chief Officer for Strategy and Improving Outcomes for NHS Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent and NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, said:

“We want to make sure our services meet the needs of local people now and in the future. This strategy sets out how we plan to improve outcomes, reduce inequalities and support people to live healthier lives at every stage.

“To do that well, we need to hear from the communities we serve. Your experiences and ideas will inform a strategy that truly reflects what matters most to our patients and residents.”

Residents are encouraged to read the strategy and share their feedback through a short online survey. The engagement period will run for three weeks.

Share your views by Sunday 22 February 2026 to shape the future of health and care in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin by completing the survey here.
