12 December 2025
Local GP, Clinical Director for the South-East Shropshire Primary Care Network (PCN) and Co-Chair of the GP Board in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Dr Jess Harvey, has been highlighted nationally at this year’s General Practice Awards for her outstanding leadership and innovation.

Taking place in Hammersmith, London, on Friday 5 December 2025, the General Practice Awards brought together leaders, colleagues and guests from across the country for a celebration of innovation and excellence. Jess attended the ceremony as part of wider recognition of her ongoing contribution to General Practice, both locally and regionally.
A familiar face in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Jess is a regular spokeswoman for the local NHS through both the press and NHS platforms – she has also been an advocate for campaigns including the winter ‘Think Which Service’ communications campaign. As a passionate voice for GPs and General Practice colleagues in the county, Jess regularly appears on programmes such as BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio Shropshire, as well as in the Shropshire Star.
Jess said: “I am grateful to have been recognised – it means a great deal at a time when General Practice is often under tremendous scrutiny, and access to appointments is understandably an important topic for patients and residents.
“I am lucky to love my job and all the opportunities that come with it. I work with some amazing people who have supported me every step of the way, and many of the projects I have been involved in or led would not have been possible without them. Any recognition I receive highlights their exceptional contributions as well.
“Working in the NHS is very demanding but incredibly rewarding, and I feel privileged to be able to help people and work alongside such hard-working and dedicated professionals. Knowing our work has made a difference, including taking a neighbourhood approach through the Dementia Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and the Highley Medical Centre, is incredible, and I hope to bring much, much more to the people in this county.”
Simon Whitehouse, Chief Executive Officer at NHS Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent and NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, said: “National recognition of this kind is a fantastic achievement. Jess is an exceptional professional within our health and care system, and we are lucky to have her. I am sure that this is only the start of the recognition for her leadership and continued outstanding work that benefits our local communities and, even more importantly, our residents.”
