Get Going with the NHS App this ‘Get Online Week’

17 October 2025

This Get Online Week (20-26 October 2025), health and care leaders across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin are encouraging residents to take a simple step towards staying in control of their health, by downloading the NHS App.

Now in its 19th year, Get Online Week is coordinated by UK charity The Good Things Foundation. If people want to start managing their money online, learn about scams and security, or gain basic digital skills for employment, the message is that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to benefit from being online.

Whether you're booking GP appointments, ordering prescriptions, checking your medical records or looking-up symptoms and accessing trusted health advice, the NHS App puts essential services right at your fingertips.  With just a few taps, you can request repeat prescriptions and have them sent directly to your nominated pharmacy, avoiding the need to make phone calls or unnecessary trips to your GP practice.

For people who are worried about getting started, there is help available. Local organisations are offering free support to help eligible residents build digital confidence and get online:

Dr Lorna Clarson, Chief Medical Officer at NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, said:

"The NHS App is transforming how people interact with their local health services. Ordering repeat prescriptions quickly and securely from home is a huge benefit, especially for those with frequent prescription needs and busy schedules.

"This Get Online Week, why not download the NHS App and discover a simple and convenient tool to help you to stay well.”
