NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board (NHS STW ICB) is responsible for ensuring that appropriate systems and processes are in place within the organisation to protect staff, minimise the risk of infection and reduce the risk of cross infection.
This policy exists to help protect NHS STW staff, the public and other stakeholders from the risks of infection and to comply with national guidance and legislation including Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
This policy establishes a clear approach to the handling of an incident defined as a SI. It contains the minimum reporting requirements expected by Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board (the ICB) in line with the process laid out in the NHS Oversight Framework 22/23and updated in NHS England Serious Incident Reporting and Never Event Frameworks (2018).
