Public Representative – Outpatients Transformation Programme

Help shape the future of local Outpatients health and care services

We’re looking for a Public/Patient Representative to sit on the NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Outpatients Transformation Steering Group. You’ll help redesign outpatient care to ensure the views and experiences of people living in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin influence future services.

Outpatients are when someone gets medical care, or a consultation from a hospital, but does not stay in the hospital overnight. Find out more about the outpatients transformation programme.

The aim of the programme is to improve the referral processes and patient experience, reduce unnecessary journeys and visits to the hospital for appointments, and provide support or advice in different ways.

We’re looking for someone who feels strongly about involving people in health service development with an interest in outpatients’ care.

As a public member of the programme’s steering group, you will have the chance to really make a difference to our future services, improve people’s lives and their experience of health and care in the county.

Barrie Reis-Seymour, Head of Elective Care Transformation for NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin

The role

You will also provide ongoing feedback and input from a patient and public perspective. You may also be asked to contribute to the development of public communications to make sure that they are right for the intended audiences.

The successful individual will be expected to attend an online steering group meeting, which takes place twice a month and lasts just over an hour and read the associated papers.

They will receive a full introductory briefing from the programme lead and be provided with IT training and support if needed.
